An ancient spirit of the British Isles (most famously Ireland), Dana is a quiet and mysterious force for fertility and peace. She is allied to Stag and was once allied to Lion, the totem of the fallen White Howlers. She is beloved of the Fae. She is also connected to Rattlesnake in some vague spiritual sense, and her fate was tied to his.
Dana has served as a totem for the Garou for so many thousands of years that nothing is known of her origin. In her role as fertility spirit, she is sometimes said to be an Incarna directly serving Gaia herself, or standing in for Gaia. Dana is typically very withdrawn, almost never appearing directly, and usually appearing as a willowy woman gleaming in the shadows of a bog or murky glen sparkling with fireflies.
Evidence indicates Dana directly intervened during the events described in the Phoenix Chronicle, guiding the restoration of the totem Rattlesnake. She blessed the participants in the Phoenix Pack with guaranteed Garou fertility at the conclusion of those events. She eventually became directly involved once more with the same group, to achieve the defeat of the Eater of Souls during the Apocalypse.
Dana is believed to have been destroyed during that final confrontation, giving all of herself into the purifying of the Storm Eater. Laura Newman is one of the only outspoken voices today claiming that Dana is merely hiding or resting once more. Like Rattlesnake, Dana has been silent since the climax of the Battle of Phoenix.
